**Shipping Costs**
Shipping costs include the shipping charge from FedEx/UPS and the cost of insulated packaging and ice paks. These two costs are shown on the paper invoice in your box as S (for shipping) and H (for the insulated container and ice paks). Your website order invoice includes these costs plus the price changes for any food adjustments such as additions called into the farm, out of stock conditions (shown on the paper invoice as OOS) and weight adjustments. Shipping costs to the states of California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Idaho, Utah, Alaska and Hawaii are extremely high as food is shipped using 2-day or overnight express shipping. It is not uncommon for shipping to be a multiple of the cost of the food. In the rest of the country where ground shipping can be arranged shipping costs average about 35% of the average food order subtotal of about $150. In the case of ground shipping, costs can range from 20% to over 70% depending on the size of the order where shipping on smaller orders is higher and shipping on larger orders are lower as a percentage of the food costs. The cost also depends on the distance of travel from our farm in Pennsylvania. A great way to save on shipping is to join a local co-op if it is available in your area. See the list of co-ops on our homepage under Member Info. In the case of co-ops the shipping cost is a flat rate per box per member which saves significantly on shipping costs.

Shipping FAQ
Miller’s Organic Farm is our century-old Amish family farm in Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania. We are fiercely proud of our holistic and entirely chemical and GMO-free system, which allows us to raise animals on pasture, where the food we produce is traceable, pure and grown on nutrient dense soil, under traditional time-honored methods. You can read more about our farm here.
We are a private Member Association, and only members of our community can purchase from our farm. If you are not a member yet, please join us here and you are ready to place your orders conveniently on our Farm website.
How does shipping work?
We ship nationwide ground/overnight or Express either via FedEx or UPS at the standard carrier fee. Due to ever increasing shipping cost, we choose ground whenever possible as rates are more reasonable. We only ship Monday through Wednesday and occasionally on Thursday, depending on the destination, with delivery by Friday for UPS and by Saturday for FedEx to avoid weekend transit. Orders shipped to the West Coast and/or areas that take 3 days or longer via ground shipping, will be shipped Express, unless ground is requested in the comment section at the checkout.
How is my order kept cold during transit?
Each box shipped from our farm contains a Styrofoam cooler, packed with ice to keep it cold. We charge a cold packaging fee which ranges from $4.00-$18.00, depending on the size of your order. Just know, that ordering additional frozen foods will ensure a colder temperature during transit and it will reduce the overall weight of your package as we need to add less ice packs.
Some items are shipped without a Styrofoam cooler or Ice packs and those orders will entail a handling fee ranging between $3.00-$8.00 instead.
How long will my package be in transit?
Due to the perishable nature of our product, we only ship on Mondays through Wednesdays, and sometimes Thursdays – depending on the destination. This ensures that all products will be received prior to the weekend. Products that we do not have in stock at the time your order is placed will need to be put on back order. It is possible that there may be a lag time from the time your order is placed to the time it is shipped. If you want us to inform you about a possible delay of the shipment please make a comment on your order or suggest a substitute. However, we work hard at making sure that orders are shipped as quickly as possible. If there is a concern about receiving an order on a specific date, we suggest making a comment at the checkout and tell the farmer that you like to have your order shipped at a specific date.
We will only allow a package to be in transit for fife consecutive business days. If your order cannot be received within 5 days using ground shipping, we must use Overnight service or Express shipping. Refer to the map below and if your location is shown on the map in the orange category, we can ship you the food standard ground. If you have any concerns regarding shipping, please contact our farm for additional details. You can reach the Miller’s Organic farm staff at (717) 556-0672.
How will I know when my order has shipped?
We are a small farm and not a factory. We have learned a lot about shipping perishable products through the mail and we have successfully done so since the year 2000. Orders are usually fulfilled within 24-48 hrs, unless the item(s) you ordered are temporarily “OUT OF STOCK” and you wish to wait a few days longer until we can fulfill your order completely. With that being said, you will receive an initial confirmation email when you place your order. After your order is packed and shipped, we will email you the respective carrier tracking number that is followed by a professional final invoice receipt that will match the items you will receive in your shipment.
When will I pay for my order?*
Your credit card is charged for the food only, when you place your order. Once your order is fulfilled, we will modify your invoice to reflect the shipping and handling charges and any WEIGHT/OUT OF STOCK adjustments. We will finalize the order with a 2nd charge to the SAME credit card for the difference ONLY – and you will receive a professional invoice along with your tracking number by email.
These payment methods are accepted
Is there an order minimum?
Yes. The minimum order for FedEx/UPS orders is $50.00. NO minimum for Co-Op or Farm Pickup orders. Shipping charges on small orders become prohibitive. Minimum shipping charges today are at least $20 and ice and insulated box charges add another $8 or more. The larger the order the lower the shipping charges become per pound. The best shipping rates are obtained if the order is at least 30 lbs to 50 pounds.
Do you provide shipping estimates?
We currently do NOT provide any shipping estimates. Shipping cost depends on weight and distance. We pass along the discounts we receive from the shipper and the heavier the package – the cost of shipping will be considerably lower. We recommend that you order more food less often vs a few items more frequently.
When are the order deadlines?
We ship Monday through Wednesday, occasionally on Thursday – depending on your location. The order deadline is 12 AM (midnight) the day before shipment. Orders placed too close to the weekend and Saturday delivery can not be guaranteed, will ship the following Monday.
What if I have to cancel my order?
Please send us an email or call the farm at (717) 556-0672 to let us know you wish to cancel your order. If the order is cancelled the same day you place it, there is no cancellation fee. Any day after that, we will charge a $10.00 cancellation fee for orders up to $300.00 and $25.00 for any order over $300.00. Since every order is fulfilled by hand and foods are prepared freshly per order, a cancellation of an existing order is a challenge. However, if you decide to opt for a store credit, there is no cancellation fee and you can use that credit on any future order of your choice. Thank you for your understanding.
What if my order is damaged or something is missing?
Eggs are the most fragile items we ship. Our egg prices include $1 per dozen for insurance against breakage. If any eggs arrive broken please inform us at the farm at (717) 556-0672 and keep a tally. When the number of broken eggs reach a dozen we will ship you a FREE dozen replacement eggs in a future order. In the rare event that an item was shipped incorrectly or is missing from your order, let us know immediately so we can assist you and help you resolve the issue.
During the warm Summer months we highly encourage to have your order shipped either Overnight or 2-Day FedEx Express to guarantee that Ice Cream will reach you still frozen. We will not be responsible if your order is shipped UPS/FedEx ground – past a 2 day transit time. If the Ice Cream has melted a bit, just shake it up and put it safely back into the freezer.
Orders exceeding 50 pounds will be shipped in multiple boxes or else will be subject to an overweight surcharge. That fee is triggered when the total weight of the box reaches more than 50 lbs. To minimize the possibility of breakage we suggest that you choose plastic containers over glass when you have a choice. If you have a question about your order before shipping or there is a problem with your order once it is delivered – again – please call the farm at (717) 556-0672. Members who live in close proximity to the farm can also place an order online and pick up their food order at the farm in person.
Thank you for your interest in our farm foods. We strive to grow the most nourishing, healthy and clean foods possible and we feel honored to ship them directly to the well-informed consumer like you, who want to support this type of agriculture.
Best of health, Amos Miller Farm and Staff
